The Company: Dunkley International is based in Kalamazoo, Michigan USA. We provide service throughout the world where cherries are grown. Our principal business consists of the design & manufacturing of built-to-last proven cherry pitters along with service and parts supply. Dunkley designs innovative products and services which are tailored to customer needs for efficiency and throughput. Dunkley is a recognized leader within the tart and sweet cherry industry for its depth of experience in supporting cherry production for over 100 years.

The Position: General Production/ Warehouse Worker

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Overview: Provide shop support – a mix of direct and indirect labor – to assure highest material quality and delivery goals are met, while improving efficiency.

Reports to: Facility Manager / Senior Planner, with primary day-to-day assistance to Sr. Machinist.

  • Assists in building assemblies and sub-assemblies – complex items such as cherry pitters, blueberry destemmers, cherry sizing and eliminator belts, etc
  • Performs Fabrication of Components, including operation of lathes, drills, press brake, mills, saw, shear, and some CNC machine operation, ensuring products are manufactured on time and to print.
  • Refurbish parts to acceptable condition, including needle sharpening and de-stemmer rod refurbishment.
  • Performs limited incoming inspections. Uses weigh counters, tape measures, calipers, visual inspection, and test fit as needed.
  • Assists with First Part Approval Inspection for fabricated parts.
  • Performs various duties in shipping and receiving and storing of both incoming materials and parts completed in manufacturing.
  • Advises Facility Manager / Sr. Planner of production issues shortages and damage.
  • Keeps production records when required on job assignments.
  • Requisitions and manages production tooling as required
  • Drives Lift Truck (Will be site-certified).
  • Performs other duties as assigned and these may include cleaning of parts and machines, cleaning of the plant and own work area, spray painting, and jobs of a similar kind.
  • Pulls and packages items to be shipped from stock, working from shipping papers, and ensures all logging paperwork is completed. May build crating on occasion.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned including general shop and machine cleanup, spray painting, inside and outside building and grounds maintenance, loading and unloading trucks, delivery and pickup of local materials; other tasks of a similar nature.
  • Maintains inventory records, and assists with cycle counts, physical inventory, and will be the primary floor material coordinator.
  • May operate outdoor equipment such as power trimmers and snow-throwers.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Requires facility in reading, writing, fundamental arithmetic, and use of tape measures, calipers, dial-indicators, weighing scales, and other measurement tools.
  • Strong Ability to identify and assess team member needs and adjust priorities quickly
  • Analytical, problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate well with executives, partners, sales teams, and customers.
  • Ability to interpret Engineering CAD drawings.
  • Job will require some lifting, proximity to chemicals of varying toxicity, handling of potentially sharp objects.  May require prolonged standing and moderate exertion (pressing/pulling/squeezing/turning). Job will require a fair degree of walking the plant every day. Eye-protection will be required for some processes and in some areas.

Additional Considered Skillsets/Experience:

·        Troubleshooting Experience (DMAIC, PDCA, Etc.)
